We have joined forces!
Break Free Escapes, Madhouse Mystery Tour and Way Out Escapes have merged their local escape room businesses. Their Elkhart location at 610 CR 15 (Inside Elkhart Central Transfer) currently offers 3 escape room experiences: Pirate Pursuit, Dr. Stankenfein and the Deadly Virus, and The Time Machine.
More information can be found on the website www.breakfreeescapes.com or on Facebook. The cost is $20 per person, designed for adventurers ages 8+.
The Rooms:
Pirate Pursuit is a new room, with a unique blend of escape room game play and team competition. Teams of players will race against each other or the clock as they solve challenges inside various room-sized crates (from the storage facility whose space they share) which has been set up to represent a ship's cargo hold. The first team to solve all the puzzles attempts to retrieve the final treasure before the time expires and the ship sinks. Due to its unique design and location, Pirate Pursuit can accommodate 2-45 people at the same time, perfect for large groups such as businesses, church and school groups, or family gatherings. The game opens for bookings October 1st, 2017.
Dr. Stankenfein and the Deadly Virus is a new room which offers a science lab theme with many ‘Gen 2’ puzzles, a term the escape room industry uses for electronic locks and other technological mechanisms. The goal is to recover the antidote before it is too late. It can accommodate 2-8 people.
The Time Machine started its run at Madhouse Mystery Tour and has been transferred to Break Free Escapes. The goal is to rescue lost time travelers by rebuilding the time machine before it is too late. It offers a variety of engaging puzzles and challenges. It can accommodate 2-8 people.
A little history:
Madhouse Mystery Tour, owned by Stephanie Lein, was the first escape room to open in the Michiana area in March 2016. Previous rooms included Man Vs. Squirrel and Superhero Training Camp. Break Free Escapes, owned by Donna Free, opened for business at the Old Bag Factory in Goshen last fall. Previous rooms included Howl at the Moon and Family Reunion: Thelma’s Revenge. Way Out Escapes, owned by Mark Chupp, has done several fundraising events locally using portable rooms at various locations in the last year. Previous rooms included Aunt Catherine the Crazy Old Cat Lady and a Cubs themed Foul Ball Fiasco.
What is an escape room?
An escape room is a themed room (or set of connected rooms) in which players need to find clues and solve puzzles to accomplish an end goal, such as finding the antidote, rebuilding a time machine or escaping a sinking ship after getting the pirate treasure. It is a popular choice for team building, parties or a fun night out with friends.
